Saturday Meditation Program
Saturday Meditation and Sadhana Practice
These practises are personally led by our teacher, HE Zimwock Rimpoche (when in residence)
10.00 - 11.00 am: Meditation, based on historical Nagarjuna and Shantideva methods
Buddhist Meditation techniques are presented during this session in a non-sectarian format, and are intended to suite both Buddhist and Non-Buddhist meditation practitioners. All individuals can participate and benefit, but please note for this session traditional Buddhist methods are used and it is not intended to be exclusively secular.
The content of this session is directly based on historical Nagarjuna and Shantideva meditation methods, as they were practiced and taught by these great classical masters in that time period (see website for further details). These techniques are presented in a non sectarian and non denominational format, so all individuals can participate and benefit. These specific meditation methods might initially appear different from the more commonly known "calm abiding" style techniques as they are frequently taught today, but the historical approach is a very effective direct method aimed at calming and purifying mental activity. Please note for this session traditional Buddhist methods are used and it is not intended to be exclusively secular, and this 10.00 am meditation session is open to all those interested in meditation.
11.00 - 12.00 am: Weekly Tibetan Sakya Buddhist Sadhana practise:
A specific sadhana practice is chosen which is suitable for most of those in attendance (Medicine Buddha, Manjushri, Green Tara, or other). Recently this session has mainly focused on Chenrezig practice with five rounds Avalokeshwara Mantra, intended to help the victims of recent natural disasters, floods, mud slides, earth quakes, and vulcanos.
Note: a short break will take place between these 2 morning sessions, and time is allowed for personal questions with Rinpoche to clarify issues participants might have regarding these meditations and Sadhana practises
